Luxottica cuts 80 jobs in West Chester

The axe continues to fall over at Luxottica retail. Our favorite line in the story is “The displaced associates will be given the opportunity to apply for jobs at the Columbus facility.” Gee that’s mighty nice of you mr. boss man.  I hope it’s not the Central Lab, as we here this may be shutting down.

Eyefinity site shares some love with Essilor, only thing missing is Luxottica

If any of you don’t know the long, rough history between VSP and Essilor let me fill you in. They hate each other. If either company could survive with out the other, it would have happened but VSP represents Essilor’s largest accounts and VSP couldn’t survive all these years without Varilux in it’s stable.

Know what Steam Punk is? Well these goggles might be the best example of Steam Punk goggles we have EVER seen! Prof.Boris vanGalvin has created nothing short of the best pair of “Ray Ban” goggles EVER.  If Luxottica had any one in their design stable that had any clue to what’s hot, new, cutting edge, they still would never be able to create such a master piece! Let’s just say it, Ray Ban sucks.

Bifocals Fight Myopia Progression in Children

Bifocals can slow the deterioration of vision in children with rapidly progressing myopia, researchers found.

In this population, a prescription for regular bifocals reduced progression to -0.96 D compared with the -1.55 D seen with single-vision glasses over a 24-month period, according to Desmond Cheng, OD, MSc, PhD, of Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, Australia, and colleagues.

We have been telling you for a while now, and you should all now know that Essilor is not for the private ECP. They have officially teamed up with Luxottica, who owns the largest retail chain in the states. This is a lovely video. It is more of the C2 (or Crap squared) that LensCrafters has beat into their remaining associates. This is so poorly shot, it almost feels like a hostage video. We love all the flair he has on his white lab coat, but I seem to remember the minimum amount of flair is 15 pieces, this guy only has on 8 pieces. Clearly he is doing less than the minimum.

Zeiss is in need of some cash. When they enveloped Sola a few years back, EQT stepped up and became a huge share holder. Now it seems EQT’s shares will be diluted as Zeiss gets some cold hard cash from a group of new lenders.
